Bibi Pekarek (AUT)
SNOWBOARD
What's your name?
Bibi Pekarek
Born when and where?
Villach in Austria on Saturday the 10.12.1977
What in your eyes made you what you are today?
The DNA of the sperm and the egg cell? My parents, my siblings, my friends, the circumstances…who else could we blame?
Your are riding since...?
1991
How did you get into this ?
I watched people doing it and I knew I had to try snowboarding. I borrowed a friend's board which was far too big for me, went to the next ski resort, broke my wrist in the morning and continued the whole day trying.
What is the meaning of style?
A mixture of self expression, a decent technique and flow
How would you describe your personal riding style?
A mixture of strong legs , fast is fun and "yes, sorry, I AM a girl".
What's your favorite ski/board model and what stance are you riding (ski: position to center - board: angle, width and position to center)
The Paradigma in 159, 250 cm width, Stance 0/12°, 54cm, on big days as close to the tail as possible
What's your best trick you are currently pulling and what are you working on?
I am working on winning the FWT (FreerideWorldTour) title during the 08/09 season
Your favorite riding spot?
Diversity is the best! Big powder days happen at different spots
What do you consider your most precious achievements in your live as a rider?
Leading the FWT after my fist place in Sochi (Russia) felt great. At that time I knew I had the power and best chances to win the world title. Unfortunately I tore my ACL a few days before the next contest.
What do you do when you don't ride?
Biking, surfing, studying physiotherapy, hiking, yoga, playing the guitar (I just started and I'm not good yet!), reading interesting mags and books. I do a lot of travelling the "non easy way" which means hardcore camping or staying on tiny fishing boats for weeks - but that's the way to get to the most interesting places and uncrowded waves.
What if you got five hours to use Bill Gate's credit card. What would you do?
I would buy the ski resort next to my place to share it with my friends only on powder days! And what about a one month stay at the Tavarua resort in Fiji?
What is there what money can't buy for you?
I once heard there was something. However, I don't remember what that was.
You need to spend the rest of your live on an island - what would you bring ? 10 items max ...
1. A surfboard shaper including all his gear
2. my man
3. antibiotics
4. a helicopter to send the others shopping if I am not allowed to leave...
In fact that's all. Look how modest I am. I don't even need 10 things!
Gimme 3 losers and 3 winners of this planet!
Losers:
You and me
Winners:
You and me
Your top 5 loves?
Sleeping, sex, spontaneity, nature, food
And your top 5 hates...
Greed, intolerance, arrogance, grumpy people, boyfriends on surftrips when I have to stay home working!
Your top 5 bands?
U2 is my favourite band since I was 14 and it's kind of an evergreen to me.
What kind of food are you into?
Asado by Peter Bauer and Julia Pale
What are you most afraid of?

My manifesto is that there is no manifesto!
What's your favourite pick up phrase?
Which is your favourite website and why?

What would you perform in case you had to participate in a casting show?
I don't feel like torturing people, that's why I wouldn't sing. What about a belly dance?
Your daily contribution to make a better world?
Give a smile to people passing by - does that count?
How do you see yourself in 20 years from now?
Just like today!
