CAMBER/ROCKER IDEOLOGY
The Milligram, successor to the LAB Carbon Split, fuses state-of-the-art materials and construction with the good old fashioned experience. Experimentation by Amplid'€™s top secret LAB department has resulted in the development of the lightest splitboard construction on the market. The first step was to replace glass with carbon fiber, which has a significantly higher strength to weight ratio. A BBP core substitutes Poplar with the uber-light wood species Paulownia and Balsa in low impact regions. Birch is used beneath the bindings and around the board edge where structural integrity is fundamental. Low viscosity aerospace epoxy guarantees that every square centimetre of core and carbon fiber is wetted during production for superior adhesion, any excess resin is squeezed out of the sandwich by the powerful press. Fiberglass Impact Pads prevent metal splitboard hardware dinging the board'€™s topsheet in critical areas. With connector clips the 163cm board length weighs a mere 2.5 Kg. The Milligrams directional geometry, designed by Amplid's owner Peter Bauer, features a very mellow elliptical nose radius and 4mm of taper: Its handling on hardpack is best described as confidence inspiring and in powder it's a complete joy to ride. Like every Amplid splitboard, the Milligram comes pre-mounted with Karakoram board clips, these little pieces of "€œwonder hardware"€ firmly secure the splitboard halves together for improved performance in ride mode. Pre-cut Kohla climbing skins, which fit the Milligram like a glove, can be purchased separately.

THE HALF-FAT DOSE

A half-fat camber for all-mountain dominance. Cruise Camber's toned-down dimensions deliver a precise and lively feel much like Pop Camber, but with much improved deep snow performance and a more "broken-in" feel out of the shrink-wrap. In Amplid's directional snowboards and skis a touch of early rise is added to Cruise Camber to improve buoyancy even further.

  • sintered_base

    This is the very same material used in record breaking race skis and snbs. Squeezing yourself into a lycra catsuit and going gate bashing probably isn't your thing, but this almost frictionless base will guarantee that when you point straight you'll be riding as fast as gravity will allow.

  • doomsday_camber

    Believe it or not, even glass fibres have a degree of elasticity. Using pre-stretched fibres in our laminates means you can be sure that your shred will never feel lifeless or lack pop throughout its life.

  • bbp-core

    The lightest woodcore money can buy. Weightless Paulownia and Balsa are carefully arranged with stronger Birch to save valuable grams without sacrificing strength.

  • topless-construction

    A smooth, belt-finished, structural laminate that eliminates the need for a heavy topsheet. Thanks to a special treatment it is durable, watertight and snowphobic. It looks pretty stealthy too.

  • aero-epo

    Amplid’s low viscosity resin, adapted from the aerospace industry, is able to flow between the composite fibres freely before curing, guaranteeing complete fiber and core wetting and eradicating dry voids which can cause breakage. Any excess resin is squeezed out by the press keeping the construction as light as possible.

  • full-carbon-jacket

    Amplid’s Full Carbon Jacket is most expensive fiber laminate in Amplid’s arsenal. Carbon’s tensile strength to weight ratio is unbeatable, it allows the use of thinner, almost weightless laminates to achieve the same flex profile. It’s responsive and energized feel are unique.

  • impact-pads

    On the Milligram we have added multidirectional fiberglass pads in the binding area, to avoid dings caused by pointy corners of metal splitboard binding bases. These pads enhance durability without adding undesired weight.

  • elliptical-nose

    The optimal snowboard nose for riding powder planes at high speed but works hard to keep its tip from submarining in tight situations when you can‘t open the throttle. Elliptical geometry is the only way to achieve this.
