May 29th, 2020. First day resort riding after the lockdown, and that with one foot of fresh powder. Kind of a historical day for some of us. Is the border open? How many people are allowed per gondola? Do we need a mask? Will lunch be served inside the restaurant? Many open questions…
Board graphics – besides the performance of a snowboard, this is perhaps the #2 USP on a market glutted with models to choose from. This episode will give you a brief backstage view into the processes of board graphics as an important part of RnD. Watch Amplid’s graphic big wig Michi Hanauer talking about his job as a graphic desinger.
We feel it's about time for you to invest some thoughts into next year's gear. Perhaps Amplid's 20/21 workbook is a good teaser to create some stoke, and to help you find the right deck. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to DM us - we'll guide you through the range.

BETWEEN THE LINES

With BETWEEN THE LINES Amplid is starting a new kind of vlog, where YOU can be the director of the content. We’d like to shed light onto the unknown stories happening in the backstage area of our snowboard life – but we’d like to pick your brains and ask you which questions we should provide an answer for. So please watch this little intro, and DM or email us your inputs…

SHRED AT HOME

SHRED AT HOME is our new miniseries, covering everything from total silly stupidity to big cojones action. Everything is legit, as long as it is original and entertaining.
Deep in the Chugach Mountains, a peak stands isolated from every other mountain, rising to 7,188 ft. Prominent. Iconic. The North face of this peak holds a line that is revered among steep skiers. It is listed as one of the Big Five of Valdez and holds a spot among The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America. Pontoon Peak.
Why we chose the Amplid Pentaquark Snowboard: Life on the edge doesn’t come faster, smoother or scarier than this.
Amplid founder, Peter Bauer, described his fifteen-year career in snowboard design as the pursuit of the equilibrium between the creative, right side of the brain, and the mathematical left side. In the case of the Pentaquark, it might be the closest he’s come to finding it yet. This is a carving man’s carving board: power; performance; precision; perfection.
Blister Review called-up long time tester Jed Doan to put the Creamer through its paces. We think it's a pretty accurate analysis of our big-mountain beauty. Navigate through the link in this blog post to access the full review, which includes comparisons to previous versions of the Creamer and freeride offerings from other brands.
Winter 2018/19 in the Northern Alps will forever be known as the "Endless Winter". It has snowed so consistently that even now, in early summer the snow reserves at even low altitudes are unprecedented. Last week Michi headed into the Karwendel Alps to enjoy some unseasonably good late May turns at unbelievably low elevations.
Whistler's Dylan Runner takes ski maintenance seriously. When his local ski tech was closed for the holidays, he took his Infrablacks to the mountain for a quick stone grind. We should probably point-out that skiing like this would probably void his warranty!

Demo Sale 2018-19

Bargain hunters pay attention: After a winter season on the road, Amplid's 18/19 demo fleet is being retired. If you're looking to scoop your dream board or skis at a bargain price, and you're not bothered by a few marks or the odd scratch, then check-out our comprehensive catalogue and get in touch if anything takes your fancy.
Over the last 35 years it's fair to say that Amplid's Peter Bauer has mastered the art of carving. A couple of weeks ago Peter and film maker/athlete Stefan Filzmoser were granted early access to the north face of Fiss in Austria's Tirol region to do as they pleased with thousands of acres of virgin corduroy.
"Fun factor through the roof"... "immensely lively and chuckable"... by the sounds of it, the Dada might be more fun than three rounds of bouncy boxing with Donald Trump. Click the link for a full-length review by the editorial team at Whitelines.com.
ACT Magazine, French purveyor of great snowboarding content, put a good number of Amplid's 18/19 collection through its rigorous board test last spring. As you can read from the reviews, they liked the gear beneath their feet. Awarding "ACE OF ACT" awards to the Surfari, Stereo and Paradigma. We've translated the reviews into English for your pleasure. Be sure to buy a copy of the magazine if you want to read the original French reviews.
Amplid's Peter Bauer waxes lyrical about his pal Jean Nerva, the good old days on the Burton Team and his tribute to the man who carved, but never slid.

The J.N.

A one-off production of just 31 very special snowboards to remember our friend Jean Nerva by. This 166cm snowboard is Peter Bauer's interpretation of the classic swallowtail, combining Jean's love for this retro powder shape with Amplid's futuristic geometry philosophy.
This April a low-tide spring in Alaska’s coastal mountains forced Amplid’s man in AK, Ben Reynolds, to head deeper into the Chugach Mountain range in search of un-ridden faces and fresh snow. Journeying in to the backcountry with their snowmobiles, Ben and his crew discovered a world of huge mountains, enormous hanging glaciers, extreme danger and incredible potential.
Amplid ambassador Andreas Gumpenberger, three fellow mountaineers, a photographer and cinematographer head deep into Pakistan's Karakoram Mountain Range to take first tracks on the imposing north face of Shimshal Whitehorn, a 6000m peak which is yet to be skied. Here's his story.
Not afraid to put his mountaineering skills to use, Austrian Stefan Filzmoser, scales some the Dolomite's most spectacular peaks to access a pair of the Alps' finest couloirs. Steep, narrow and, for Stefan at least, loaded with snow, these descents look like they were worth the hours of boot packing.
If you’ve watched one of the many edits emanating from Australia’s Perisher resort this summer, you’d be excused for believing that freeriding in Australia is a little limited and almost totally flat. However, if you’re prepared to hike deeper into the backcountry then the fruits are for the picking. Antony Von Chrismar and Lachlan Humphreys recently went in search of Euro-style lines at the fabled Crags.
Amplid's ultra-light pow-surfing mega-split, the Millisurf, starts the 18/19 winter season by scooping an Editor's Choice Award in Backcountry Magazine, the US' best selling backcountry skiing and splitboarding magazine.
Up and down the Rockies, far-flung trips to Whistler and Japan, and back to Colorado when the goods finally arrived: Amplid rider Ray McDermott's season was spent chasing the white stuff by any means possible. Watch his pow-coated highlights in Ray's 17/18 Season Edit.
Dylan Runner spends his winters launching from the biggest drops and scoring the sketchiest straight-lines possible in his winter home, Whistler, Canada. From the looks of it. there's plenty of scary terrain to choose from! Here's his season edit, be sure to catch the ender!
Never one to miss a good race, particularly one so close to home, Amplid's Peter Bauer made his way to Kitzsteinhorn last weekend to compete at the Volcom Banked Slalom. As expected the banks and the vibes were all-time!
