Provoke Review - Skieur Magazine

In March, Skieur Magazine took Amplid wallet-friendly park ski, the Provoke, for several days of testing. Here's a translation of the review taken from the magazine's "Buyers Guide" issue. We're told the reviews will be available at skieur.com in the very near future.

"The Amplid brand was a little more discreet last season in France with less marketing presence, however, it has managed to keep its reputation for quality and for offering skis that work as they should. A great example of this the little Provoke at 400 euros, a regular price wish whilst aiming nonetheless for high performance. On piste, regular or switch, the Provoke proves itself particularly good, linking turns in its stride with a disconcerting easiness, yet remaining stable in all circumstances although not quite like a Super G ski. The ski is intended primarily for intermediate skiers in search of progression and this is reflected in the shape. It adopts a shallow double-rocker, it’s playful in different terrain, remaining under control and offering a pleasant pop which provides many jibbing opportunities. Lightweight and handy, this is a good kicker ski, though you should avoid 40 metre flights with hazardous landings. With only 84mm underfoot, it’s really just a piste and park ski and will hardly perform miracles out of bounds.  At the same time, it is not what the ski is designed for; the Provoke is for the pure jibber or the beginner/intermediate wanting to progress without forcing!

Piste = 4/5
Switch =3.5/5
Jib = 4/5
Air = 4/5
Versatility = 2.5/5

Level = Beginner to Intermediate

Positives = familiarity, accessibility
Negatives = limit to performance"
