The “5 Red Flags” is a system for detecting increased avalanche danger in the terrain that consists of 5 warning signs and is particularly popular in North America. Each of these warning signs points to a specific avalanche problem and proves existence in the field. The individual warning signs do not exclude each other and can overlap depending on the situation. Basically, these warning signs confirm the avalanche problems described in the avalanche report...

In a world in which we’re spoiled for radical designs, head-turning powslayers, pro-endorsed park sticks and artisan oddities, you might well wonder: have they been living under a rock? Haven’t they noticed that brands have been pumping out more shapes than Boris Johnson at a wedding? Yes, in this day and age, stating a preference for a standard popsicle-stick does seem to possess a lot of ‘Alan Partridge discussing the Beatles’ energy...
It has snowed all night and we go through our daily morning routine in the larger of the two Hymer Mobiles: coffee, muesli, Nutella bread, another coffee, cat shower, then prepare snowboard gear. It's the 5th day, Serbia the 5th country on our road trip to northern Macedonia on the hunt for undiscovered powder pockets in the Balkans. So far, our expectations have been more than exceeded...
Personal Thoughts: This rides super soft, it would almost be better for a lighter weight rider. Yes it’s wide and has some solid float. In low angle terrain it’s easy to pump the terrain to keep your speed on this thing. It has its place for riders but for someone like me it might be a little too soft and going to an Aloha Vibes makes far more sense.
In Action - it's as selfexplanatory as it sounds: In these miniseries you get to see our latest products in action, in its original habitat: Amplid's Centrifugal, made for precision turning. It's as simple as that. A turbocharged brotherhood of speed-hungry hot rods for carving-up the mountain. The Centrifugal Collection snowboards combine Amplid’s most advanced technologies and construction with dialled-in geometries and potent cambers.
You aim high, you aim for D+, you aim for steepness, you have a good level and purchasing power, this splitboard, not new but updated, remains a reference. A rather exclusive model, the kind of Formula 1 split...

We have shipped a Beta Prototype Board to Boris Anthony, who is currently spending the winter in Japan. Next to very constructive inputs he has sent us this little clip. Attention: If you didn't get to ride pow in a winter wonderland this season - you'd better not watch this, as it might be too beautiful!

Kosovo Powder

Last February I happened to experience the best week of snowboarding in my 30 years of riding sideways. It took place in a hidden powder bowl below the Gjeravica mountain in Kosovo. Maybe not known to many, but the Adriatic coastal mountain range happens to get huge powder storms when conditions click. Imagine Japan quality powder but 2 hours flight from Munich...
Here’s where this board sticks out. This thing rips carves and just feels super locked in on edge when you’re just cruising. When you aggressively drive this board you can lay it over and feel the power out of the tail as it propels you out of a turn. The edge to edge power transmission is super fluid and powerful. This board wants to be on edge and it wants you to push it hard. If you like railing deep hard carves this is a deck to consider.
In Action - it's as selfexplanatory as it sounds: In these miniseries you get to see our latest products in action, in its original habitat: Following the intrinsic search for the „perfect daily driver“, we feel it was our obligation to create the top notch swiss army knife for the true all-mountain performance, with the smallest compromise restrictions (a.k.a. “close to none”). Carving early morning groomers at mach 5, attaining freestyle cred in the park or plowing effortless through waist-deep powder...
Why We Chose The Amplid Singular: When a company like Amplid says it’s cracked the true all-purpose Swiss Army Knife, it’s time to sit up and pay attention. The name says it all: the Amplid Singular aims to go full Marie Kondo on your board bag. Never mind the quiver approach; just get one of these all-terrain vehicles in there, and prepare to spark a whole load of joy. This message is only slightly undermined by the fact that there are actually *two* Singulars – this one, and a true twin version.
The Amplid Milligram needs no introduction at this stage of the game. This is -hands down- one of the best all-mountain splitboards in the market. A top-notch splitboard that Amplid keeps upgrading year after year, a board that a big part of the global splitboard community would love to add to their quiver. A light, reactive and solid splitboard to take your riding to the next level. The early-rise rocker keeps you afloat on powder days and the generous traditional camber caters for everything you need when the snow conditions and the terrain are demanding...
Amplid is one of the leader brands when it comes to innovation in splitboarding. Unarguably, their products reflect the work they have accomplished over the past years. One of the greatest challenges in splitboarding lies in reducing the weight of the boards without compromising their performance and durability, and the Millisurf is a clear example of this.
This deck is super fun and well balanced. It cuts through fresh snow with ease, gets on top of wide open pow, but still retains enough torsional flex to be good in tight trees. The stability of this board is amazing as well which allows you to charge into uneven terrain faster and works with the torsional flex to let you drive it how you want. Overall this is a well balanced freeride board that isn’t super demanding but does have a great reactive lively feel to it.
In Action - it's as selfexplanatory as it sounds: In these miniseries you get to see our latest products in action, in its original habitat: State-of-the-art construction techniques and materials, pioneered by the original Milligram, bring this champion powder split in at a weight class all on its own. Wickedly responsive and effortless in deep snow, the Millisurf delivers knock-out performance every time you strap in...
Amplid have carved out a stellar reputation for their fleet of snowboards dedicated to perfecting the art of the turn. Their Centrifugal Collection showcases some of the most performance-driven, technologically advanced boards that induce a near God-like feeling of power and control on the edge. Winter 21/22 sees a new model added to the lineup: the Souly Grail.
Based on the awarded Milligram’s shape, the Freequencer is our BEST ALL MOUNTAIN 2023 splitboard. Quite frankly, it is one of the boards we were most looking forward to riding in this year’s test, and as you will see for yourself, we weren’t in the least bit disappointed. The Freequencer is all you can expect from the Milligram -thinking of shape- but with a wood core, which implies a more affordable price. We also think that it will open the doors to many splitboarders who see the Milligram as an unattainable object of desire, or to those who simply don’t dig carbon construction boards.

The Amplid Surf Shuttle is all you need if you are looking for a splitboard to ride powder. Thanks to its shape, it is guaranteed to be a splitboard which floats really well on powder, spring corn, and it will feel stable even shredding ugly crusty snow. Obviously, it doesn’t feel as light as the Millisurf, but quite frankly, Amplid has really succeeded in keeping the weight very low for a bomb proof construction.
NOTES FROM THE LAB is Amplid's mini series, shedding light into the daily grind of snowboard RnD. Amplid founder Peter Bauer and his team are on a constant search for the lightest yet durable splitboard. Here comes a prototype of the "Nanogram" - and we believe this is the lightest splitboard ever built: Below 2 kg !!!
